April Nicole Pettit
An angel was born March 13, 1984 to Larry and Debbie Pettit of Woodstown, NJ. April Nicole Pettit was born with Ring Chromosome 13, a rare genetic disorder, and was not expected to live past the age of one or two. At the time, the Pettit family did not realize that April was a special gift from God given to them as a blessing
that would forever change their lives and their community.
Over the years, April was the center of their family, the apple
of their eye; and although she could not walk or talk, she had a
smile that taught everyone who grew to know her the true
meaning of what is really important in life.
April came down with “Type B” flu on March 13, 2005 - her
21st birthday. This illness put her into The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia were she was trached and put on a ventilator to help her breathe. She came home 3 months later, still on a ventilator
and needing round the clock care. In September of 2006, April developed pneumonia and spent the last 5 months of her life at Children’s Hospital battling a deterioriating lung condition until
she passed away in February 2007.
